**KRAAB GIPPS shadow profiles for plasterboard ceilings** allow you to create ceilings
with a unique design and aesthetic appeal thanks to the shadow gap and the perfect
color match between the ceiling and walls. The shadow joint looks great on both
smooth wall surfaces and on tiles, decorative brick, 3D panels, and other materials
that create uneven wall surfaces. A perfect blend of contrasting colors is achieved
by indenting the ceiling edges from the walls, eliminating the need for painting
the area where the ceiling meets the walls.

### Advantages of the KRAAB GIPPS shadow joint system

In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the shadow gap **also functions as an expansion
joint**, helping to preserve the ceiling's appearance for years to come. Over time,
cracks appear in plasterboard ceilings. This occurs due to stress on the ceiling
caused by house shrinkage, changes in humidity levels, and other changes during
the use of the space. The expansion joint relieves all stress from the plasterboard
and absorbs it.

The most common types of loads are related to linear expansion and geometric deviations.
Linear expansion of drywall is the change in its length due to changes in temperature
and humidity conditions. For every meter of drywall length, there is an expansion
of one millimeter.

### Types of shadow ceilings on plasterboard

We have created **two types of profiles**: with and without a damper.

### KRAAB GIPPS with damper

The KRAAB GIPPS shadow profile with a damper is designed for installing a **single-
layer plasterboard** ceiling. It must be secured to the wall. During use, the damper
connection system relieves the plasterboard and absorbs the load.

### KRAAB GIPPS without damper

The KRAAB GIPPS shadow profile without a damper is designed for mounting ceilings
with one or two layers of plasterboard and does not require fastening to the wall.

Compared to traditional plasterboard ceiling installation techniques, KRAAB GIPPS
shadow profiles eliminate the need for painstaking work to create straight angular
lines and contrasting wall and ceiling colors. This is achieved because **the ceiling
perimeter is not flush with the room's walls**. Shadow profiles look great and can
be installed on both a flat wall and on tiles, decorative brick, 3D gypsum panels,
and other materials.
