Shumoplast

Shumoplast

The soundproofing leveling coating SHUMOPLAST is a ready-to-use granulated mixture of elastic vibration-insulating material, which, after application to the floor surface, functions as a soundproofing leveling pad under the screed in floating floor structures.

Shumoplast is a granulated polymerizing material used as an elastic soundproofing layer in floors with floating screed.

Allows you to level uneven floors

  • localized burrs and cracks
  • small construction waste
  • protrusions and burrs of reinforcement
  • shells on the surface of the ceiling
  • uneven floors

For rooms with a large number of utility lines

Electrical wiring, heating and water supply pipes, and other utility lines can be placed inside the Shumoplast layer.

Simple and quick installation

Shumoplast is applied quickly and evenly to the floor surface using a float, and the layer thickness is controlled with a feeler gauge. There’s no labor-intensive cutting process, no waste, and no offcuts.

Effective insulation of impact and airborne noise

For over 10 years, Shumoplast has been used in various premises for effective additional insulation of impact and airborne noise.

Impact and structure-borne noise reduction of 31 dB

  • moving furniture
  • the stamping of feet
  • the sound of falling objects
  • vibrations of household appliances
  • fitness classes, etc.

Additional airborne noise insulation +9 dB

  • TV sound
  • music
  • dog barking
  • crying of a child, etc.

Scope of application

It is used in floating soundproofing floor structures as a leveling elastic layer under the screed on uneven monolithic, precast, and composite floors during the construction and renovation of all types of buildings and structures. It conceals floor-mounted utilities at no additional cost. It reduces impact noise by 31 dB and increases airborne sound insulation by 9 dB.

Compound

Shumoplast is made from expanded polystyrene granules, a rubber additive, and an acrylic binder developed using a special innovative formula. Together, these components provide consistent sound insulation and elasticity.

The composition of the material is unique, protected by a patent and produced exclusively by Acoustic Group.

Eco-friendliness

Shumoplast coating has passed laboratory testing of a sample of products and received certification according to the EcoMaterial 2.0 standard, confirming its safety for humans.

ECO Material is a voluntary environmental certification system for building and finishing materials.

Distinctive features

  • Innovative leveling heat and sound insulating coating
  • Provides simultaneous insulation of airborne and impact noise
  • Easy installation and high application speed
  • Patented (No. 124273, No. 2507180)
  • Shumoplast has successfully passed the expert assessment of building materials according to the EcoMaterial environmental standard. The product is safe for humans.

You can purchase Shumoplast from Acoustic Group or from the company’s authorized partners.

Description

Index of additional insulation of impact noise and airborne noise

Acoustic tests were carried out by the acoustic measurements laboratory of the Scientific Research Institute of Physics of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, Moscow.

  • Reduction of the reduced level of impact noise by a floating screed with a surface density of 100-120 kg/m2, laid on a layer of Shumoplast 10-20 mm thick.

Results of field tests of additional airborne noise insulation using a floating floor structure using Shumoplast material.

Physical and technical characteristics

  • Thermal conductivity – no more than 0.050 W/m0C
  • Sorption moisture content no more than 3.6%
  • Water absorption under partial immersion 0.575 kg/ m2
  • Density 67.5 kg/ m3
  • Shrinkage under a load of 2000 Pa is no more than 3%

Package

The ready-to-use SHUMOPLAST mixture is packaged in 0.2 m³ polyethylene bags, weighing 13.5 kg each. SHUMOPLAST-GRUNT, a primer for treating vertical surfaces, is supplied in 3/8/15 kg plastic buckets.

Material consumption

With a layer thickness of 20 mm, the material consumption is one PE bag per 10 sq.m of surface.

When treating a surface 100 mm wide, the consumption of primer mass is 120 g per 1 running meter.

Before installing a standard 20 mm thick coating, construction waste with a fraction size of more than 10 mm must be removed from the surface of the ceiling.

To increase adhesion, the surfaces of walls and columns are pre-primed with the SHUMOPLAST-GRUNT compound before coating.

Shumoplast is applied to the ceiling either manually or mechanically. The material is compacted to the required thickness using a polyurethane trowel. A layer of Shumoplast is applied to all adjacent walls and columns, to a height slightly higher than the leveling screed to prevent the formation of sound bridges during its installation.

After 48 hours at a temperature of at least 15°C, the 20 mm thick mixture will completely polymerize, after which it is necessary to lay a separating layer of reinforced polyethylene film 200 µm thick, also with the edges on all walls and columns.

A leveling screed of at least 60 mm thickness is laid directly on the Shumoplast coating and must be reinforced with metal structures to give it increased mechanical strength.
