In a movie theater, the sound from one auditorium should not disturb the adjacent one, and within the auditorium itself, it should be clear and echo-free. • Powerful sound systems in cinemas create levels above 100 dB, so very high sound insulation is required between the halls – usually multi-layer structures with an Rw index of 60 dB or higher.
• The reverberation time of a cinema hall is made short – approximately 0.3-0.7 seconds depending on the volume, so that the sound is determined by the system, and not by the hall.
• Low frequencies pass through structures best, which is why vibration isolation is needed.

Soundproofing requirements for a cinema

• Separate walls between halls with an air gap and mineral wool.
• Vibration-isolated ceiling and floating floor if there are other halls or living spaces nearby.
• Soundproof doors and vestibules at the entrance to the hall.
• Soundproofing of ventilation and insulation of air ducts.
• Finish the hall with dark sound-absorbing materials to avoid glare and reflections.
