ZIPS-Slim, sandwich panel

ZIPS-Slim, sandwich panel

An ultra-thin panel for frameless soundproofing of inter-apartment walls made of aerated concrete, foam concrete, and gypsum blocks. Additional airborne sound insulation index ΔRw = 11 dB. Vibration units using patented VIBRID® technology.

The ZIPS-SLIM sandwich panel is the main element of the ZIPS-SLIM frameless soundproofing system.

Allows for the standard sound insulation values to be met with a reserve for inter-apartment walls made of aerated concrete, foam concrete and gypsum blocks.

The system thickness is only 37.5 mm

The ZIPS-SLIM system with ultra-thin sandwich panels is designed specifically for additional soundproofing of interior walls made of foam and aerated concrete blocks. The total thickness of the soundproofing structure, including the finishing cladding, is only 37.5 mm.

Additional sound insulation +11 dB

At just 37.5 mm thick, the system effectively isolates various types of noise typical of apartment buildings: neighbors talking, children crying, dogs barking, and noise from household appliances and televisions.

The index of additional insulation of airborne noise by the ZIPS-SLIM system is ΔRw = 11 dB.

New patented technology for the production of vibration units

VIBRID is a hybrid combination of two types of vibroacoustic materials: a polyurethane sleeve and vibration-insulating silicone sealant Vibrosil, which provides increased structural strength and reliable sealing of the vibration unit.

Compound

The ultra-thin soundproofing frameless system ZIPS-SLIM consists of ZIPS-SLIM sandwich panels and special finishing gypsum boards AKU-line.

ZIPS-SLIM is a two-layer sandwich panel (white fiberglass + gypsum fiber sheet providing rigidity) 25 mm thick with built-in vibration units manufactured using the new VIBRID technology for fastening to the supporting surface and supports made of Sylomer elastomer.

The exterior panels are finished with 12.5mm AKU-line gypsum boards. This brings the total thickness of the soundproofing structure to 37.5mm.

Distinctive features

  • The ZIPS-SLIM system is designed for inter-apartment walls made of aerated concrete and foam concrete.
  • The thinnest sandwich panel from the ZIPS family
  • High efficiency with minimal thickness – additional airborne noise insulation index of 11 dB
  • Patented technology for the production of vibration units
  • ZIPS-SLIM panels have successfully passed the expert assessment of building materials according to the EcoMaterial environmental standard. The product is safe for humans.

Scope of application

The ZIPS-SLIM system is designed for residential spaces where it is important to preserve every centimeter of usable space and maintain the visual volume of the space.

It is used for soundproofing inter-apartment walls made of aerated concrete, foam concrete and gypsum blocks.

Not suitable for use on ceilings.

Storage

ZIPS panels should be stored in dry, enclosed spaces, protected from precipitation. The panels should be placed on wooden pallets, boards, or other support materials without sagging.

Eco-friendliness

ZIPS-Slim panels have undergone laboratory testing of a sample of products and received EcoMaterial 2.0 certification, confirming their safety for humans.

ECO Material is a voluntary environmental certification system for building and finishing materials.

Installation technology

The ZIPS-SLIM panel system is installed in strict accordance with the Installation Instructions.

1. Preparing the surface for installation

1. Preparing the surface for installation

The ZIPS-SLIM panel system is mounted on existing inter-apartment walls made of foam, aerated concrete and gypsum blocks.

Before starting installation work, the surface of the walls must be leveled with plaster mixture.

ATTENTION! The system is not used on ceilings.

2. Start of installation

2. Start of installation

The ends of the ZIPS-SLIM sandwich panels must be connected to the side walls and ceiling through two layers of vibration-insulating tape “Vibrostek-M” or through one layer of ULTRAKUSTIK-TENTA F100.

The tapes are glued using Vibrosil sealant.

The panel system is supported on the floor using two layers of Vibrostek-M vibration-insulating tape or one layer of ULTRAKUSTIK-LENA F100. A Vibrostek-M or ULTRAKUSTIK-LENA F100 spacer must also be placed under the ends of the drywall sheets used in the system.

3. Installation of sandwich panels

3. Installation of sandwich panels
ZIPS-SLIM panels are mounted to the wall surface exclusively through special vibration units.

It’s easier to install sandwich panels from bottom to top, left to right. The first panel’s tongues are trimmed along both the short and long sides, while subsequent panels in the first row are trimmed only along the long side.

The panels are installed as follows: the panel is placed against the wall, and holes at least 60 mm deep are drilled directly through the vibration units. Plastic anchors are inserted into the holes, into which a screw with a washer is first screwed in using several threads, preventing the anchor from widening. Once the anchor is inserted into the drilled hole, it is driven in firmly with a hammer and tightened with a conical washer placed under its head.

ATTENTION! The screw head is recessed into the surface of the vibration unit by no more than 1-2 mm!

4. Trimming panels

4. Trimming panels

Sandwich panels are joined together using a tongue-and-groove joint. The tongue-and-groove joints are further secured with 3.9 x 19 mm gypsum fiber board screws spaced 150 mm apart. When closing a row, the panel can be trimmed, with the trimmed portion carried over to the next row. Sandwich panels are cut to size using a jigsaw, and the wadding layer is trimmed with a sharp knife.

5. Joint spacing

5. Joint spacing

Cut panel sections shorter than 200 mm are not used. Panels are installed with staggered transverse joints in adjacent rows. The staggered joints must be at least 250 mm. If the groove of the panels in the last row is not cut to fit the actual wall size, strips of 10 mm thick gypsum fiberboard or plasterboard are inserted into the grooves.

6. Finishing layer of AKU-Line sheets

6. Finishing layer of AKU-Line sheets6. Finishing layer of AKU-Line sheets

After the installation of the panels is completed, a finishing layer of AKU-Line sheets with a thickness of 12.5 mm is attached to the resulting surface.

The sheets must be connected to adjacent surfaces also through two layers of vibration-insulating tape “Vibrostek-M” or through one layer of ULTRAKUSTIK-TAPE F100 in accordance with paragraph 2 of these instructions.

When installing AKU-Line sheets, use 3.5×32 mm self-tapping screws. The screws should not hit the sandwich panel vibration units. The screw spacing is 200 mm vertically and 400 mm horizontally.

7. The final stage

7. The final stage

Excess protruding “Vibrostek-M” or “ULTRAKUSTIK_TENTA F100” tape is trimmed flush with the finishing layer of AKU-Line sheets. The joints are filled with “Vibrosil” acoustic sealant. To ensure a high-quality joint, it is recommended to use masking tape applied to the surfaces forming the corner. If necessary, the panel system surface is additionally leveled for the final finish.
